January Recap

Oh, January, the Monday of months. This year instead of doing random weekend recaps, I’m going to do monthly highlights. These posts will focus on all of the fun things I do outside of fashion.

As always, January felt like it was a year long. The month after the joyous holiday season is always hard for me to get through. Especially if you live in a place that was colder than Antartica for two days (yeah, that’s Chicago). The cold sucks. The slush sucks. But I still managed to have some fun.

What I did

Even though this January has been both very cold and very snowy, I still managed to leave the apartment and do fun things. Call CNN!

I started a new embroidery project. I’m like three stitches from completing my heart design so soon I’ll be on to the next project. Now that I’ve started looking on Pinterest for design ideas, I cannot stop. I might have to get really good at embroidery this year so I can make cool shit like this.

Marissa at C.R.E.A.M took my hair to next level blonde. Marissa did my hair last April, and it grew out perfectly. She’s an artist and takes so much care and time with your head of hair. If you’re looking for a Chicago hair colorist, she’s your gal.

January also marks restaurant week in Chicago. This year we went to Siena Tavern. The food was delicious, but I still have some ordering regrets. Don’t you hate when that happens?

What I wore

Sweaters, sweaters, and more sweaters was the theme of January style. I love winter outfits, but I gotta admit that I’m ready for some more dresses, light jackets, and all the fun Spring things. I guess only 8 more weeks until that happens….

What I bought

My shopping was pretty light in January. I shopped Zara’s semi-annual sale and walked away with two dresses and an amazing cheetah print sweater (pictured above). I also exchanged a Christmas present from DSW for these boots. They’re basically the same ones I wanted for Christmas. SCORE.
